According to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, the urgency to empty the shelter comes about as all the flooring and kennels are being stripped out so new concrete can be poured. During this time, free adoptions are being pushed, an attempt to connect animals with families who can provide a 'forever home.'

From Monday through Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., those interested are encouraged to visit the shelter at 58040 County Road 681 to meet the potential new members of their families. The sheriff’s office highlights the value of the week-long event, noting the variety of tail-wagging companions currently residing at the shelter, ready for a fresh start.
