In an operation by the Vista Sheriff's Station's Community Policing and Problem-Solving Unit (COPPS), a significant drug and weapon consolidation was accomplished at a residence on Wandering Road. On Thursday afternoon, officials, having brandished a narcotics search warrant, made their way into the 800 block domicile, where they unearthed an assortment of illegal substances and a firearm. Confiscated were a legally registered Glock handgun, ammunition, Xanax pills, psilocybin mushrooms, and a little over 35 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine combined.
Arrested at the scene, Ruben Novellan Feliciano and Evelyn Gomez Herrera face multiple charges, including child endangerment and the sale of controlled substances. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, found in the home with the narcotics and weapon were children who have since been taken under the protective wing of the County's Child and Family Well-Being Department.
While confiscating the items, deputies noticed that there appeared to be children inhabiting the space where these dangerous items were found, leading to immediate action being taken by San Diego County's Child and Family Well-Being Department. The young residents, after a preliminary investigation, were placed with family members deemed more suitable, ensuring they were removed from an environment steeped in illegality and potential harm.
Herrera, alongside the joint charges with Feliciano, is dealing with an additional allegation of being an addict in possession of a firearm.
