Golf enthusiasts and casual players alike will need to adjust their games at the Waiehu Municipal Golf Course starting April 21. The Department of Parks and Recreation of the County of Maui announced that the course's greens and collars will undergo aeration from Monday, April 21, through Thursday, April 24. This seasonal maintenance is necessary to keep the course in top condition for the rest of the year, but it will mean some temporary limitations for golfers hitting the links during that period.
On April 21 and 22, only the back nine holes will be open, and you'll play them twice. The same goes for April 23 and 24, but with the front nine open for a double round while the back nine gets maintenance. The County of Maui statement confirms the course should be back to its full 18-hole glory come Friday, April 25, assuming Mother Nature doesn't decide to throw a sand trap into the mix.
For those planning to polish their clubs and hit some balls during this time, be sure to adjust your expectations and maybe use the opportunity to get intimately familiar with half of the course. Waiehu Municipal Golf Course is a favorite among locals and visitors for its coastal views and accessible play. Despite the aeration inconvenience, the maintenance work assures that it remains a quality spot to tee off.
