Two men wanted for serious crimes were recently apprehended following separate traffic stops in Mt. Juliet, marking a swift close to their periods on the run. The Mt. Juliet Police Department reported Sunday that they had initiated a stop on a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 due to a suspended license plate. The driver, a 37-year-old Nashville man, was found to be a wanted individual from Mississippi. His name was connected to an active warrant since June 26, 2017, for violating probation on a felony aggravated domestic assault charge, WSMV reported.
The MJPD didn't hesitate to soon after make a second arrest. On the same day, officers pulled over a 59-year-old La Vergne man for a brake light infraction on South Mt. Juliet Road, near Providence MarketPlace. A routine check revealed that the man had been sought by Wilson County authorities since August 2023 on a felony theft charge, involving more than $60,000, as per information obtained by FOX 17.
Both incidents are part of the local police department's ongoing efforts to maintain the safety of their community. The MJPD, in a statement, expressed gratitude for their officers' "vigilance and dedication in protecting one of the safest communities around." This appreciation was echoed in the department's social media updates regarding the arrests.
The outcomes of both traffic stops underscore the effectiveness of police protocol during routine stops. "A check revealed he was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections on a full extradition warrant for violating probation related to felony aggravated domestic assault," MJPD stated about the first arrest. And regarding the second, the MJPD proudly noted on their Facebook page that "We appreciate our officers’ vigilance and dedication to keeping Mt. Juliet one of the safest communities around," as relayed by WKRN.
