A Madison Heights nursing home worker has found himself on the wrong side of the law, charged with the serious accusations of falsifying medical records and practicing medicine without a license. Antonio Serraon, a 55-year-old Warren resident, was arraigned before Magistrate Michael G. Mitchell at the 43rd District Court in Madison Heights, as reported by the Detroit News. Serraon is facing one count of placing misleading or inaccurate information in medical records or charts and a count of unauthorized practice of a health profession, which are classified as felonies.

The charges originate from a distressing incident on December 13, 2023, when an unnamed disabled nursing home resident allegedly fell and sustained a fatal head injury. It is believed that Serraon sought to conceal that the patient had not received proper follow-up care by entering inaccurate details in the patient's medical records. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel expressed deep concern over Serraon's actions. "Unlawful conduct by a healthcare provider is deeply concerning—particularly when it directly compromises patient safety," Nessel stated, in a description detailed by the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

In addition to the misleading documentation, authorities allege Serraon wrongfully administered a controlled sedative to the resident before the fall. This act, performed without proper authorization, possibly set into motion the tragic sequence of events that ultimately led to the resident's death.

According to Madison Heights court officials, after his initial court appearance, Serraon will undoubtedly continue facing the legal system. A probable cause conference is set for March 19 at 11 a.m., followed by a preliminary examination on April 2 at 8 a.m.
