The fire has escalated from its initial size, now having consumed an estimated 3,600 acres, and is only 20% contained, as noted by a report from NBC affiliate WFLA. Monroe County officials have strongly advised locals to avoid the area affected by the fire, which continues to rage during a typically busy spring break season.

According to CBS News, an additional area, Card Sound Road, also remains closed.
