Thompson's Station became the epicenter of an "urgent" rescue effort when Williamson County Animal Center's Animal Control Officers (ACOs) were dispatched to save a dog named Ona from the depths of a storm drain, as reported by WKRN. The operation unfolded after Ona's barks for help echoed from 30 feet within the drain, alerting her owner and nearby construction workers of her plight; however, despite their attempts, they were unable to reach the trapped canine.
ACO McClendon, whose quick response and brave action turned the tide, ventured into the narrow storm drain and, after navigating the constricted space, managed to secure Ona's freedom, according to details from a WSMV report. The beloved pet had reportedly been trapped for roughly three hours.
The Williamson County Animal Center took to social media to celebrate the successful rescue, applauding the ACO's actions with the heartening post: "After about three long hours stuck in the drain, Ona was overjoyed to be reunited with her dad—proof that a little patience and a lot of heart can make all the difference!" which can be seen in their Facebook post.
