Jackie Kay Lynch, 61, of Wilson County, has been charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense. According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Lynch allegedly claimed to have sustained injuries from slip-and-fall incidents at eight different Piggly Wiggly stores in an attempt to claim damages through Utica National Insurance.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey stated that Lynch, a resident of 1915 Glendale Dr. SW in Wilson, allegedly sought $1,000 in damages, as stated in the arrest warrant. The incidents reportedly occurred on August 5, 2024. Lynch was detained at Wilson County Detention Center and appeared in district court on March 12, as mentioned by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Commissioner Causey stated, "Insurance fraud is not a victimless crime," as reported by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
