Wisconsin DNR Announces Bonus Harvest Authorizations for Spring Turkey Season; Sale Starts March 17Source: Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is getting ready to roll out the bonus harvest authorizations come March 17. As per what DNR has unveiled, these bonus authorizations, previously referred to as leftover permits, can be snagged online via the Go Wild license portal or at any authorized license sales agent starting 10 a.m. till the clock strikes midnight each sale date.

If you’re not already in the Go Wild system with a username and password, you’ll need to set it up before March 17 to avoid delays when buying bonus authorizations. Usernames must be 5-20 characters, and passwords need to include a number, both uppercase and lowercase letters, and a symbol (but no “@” sign). Make sure to create your account ahead of time—if you wait, you won’t be able to buy until your turn in the queue.

The bonus authorizations are available to both resident and nonresident hunters, with tags priced at $10 and $15, respectively. Hunters can get one bonus authorization per day until they’re gone or the season ends. If you’re aiming for a 2025-2026 Conservation Patron license, be sure to get it before March 17 to speed up your bonus authorization purchase.

The DNR schedule kicks off with Zone 1 sales on Monday, March 17, and runs through Zone 5 on Friday, March 21. Unfortunately, no bonus authorizations are being offered for Zones 6 and 7. If any authorizations are left after the initial sale, they’ll be available starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22. To participate, customers will be randomly assigned a number when entering the Go Wild portal between 9:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. each day. Latecomers after 10 a.m. will have to wait their turn like everyone else.

The spring turkey hunting season in Wisconsin is divided into six hunts, each lasting seven days from Wednesday to Tuesday, across seven zones. Key dates to remember are: the Youth Hunt on April 12-13, and Period A starting April 16 through to Period F, which ends May 27. Whether you're an experienced hunter or a newcomer.
