On Wednesday night in Portage Park, a 56-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after a hit-and-run incident involving a black SUV. The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the collision occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. as the woman was using the crosswalk on the 5900 block of West Irving Park Road. The vehicle involved was said to have continued driving westward after striking her.
The victim was quickly transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. At the facility, she was listed in critical condition. Despite having later located the SUV in Franklin Park, police have not yet managed to arrest any individual in connection to the event.
