Residents and passersby in Wylie may observe increased police activity at Davis Intermediate but do not worry. It's all part of a planned exercise to sharpen the skills of local law enforcement.
According to a social media post from the Wylie Police Department, the department will conduct Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) sessions over four days: March 17-18 and March 20 - 21.
The ALERRT program, designed to prepare officers for active threat situations, is a collaborative effort that includes participants from Wylie PD and officers from neighboring agencies. Using a local school property for this event comes with the cooperation of the Wylie Independent School District (ISD), allowing the training at Davis Intermediate.
