Don’t miss the Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros celebration at the Yolo County Library. This fun event promotes literacy for children of all cultures and languages, with books and activities for the whole family. Every child who attends will get a free book to take home, helping to encourage a love of reading, according to the Yolo County.

"Día champions the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds and fosters connections between children and families, weaving a rich tapestry of books, languages, and cultures," shared County Librarian and Chief Archivist Diana Lopez in a statement obtained by the Yolo County website. The program is packed with special performances, STEAM crafts and is open to all who wish to attend at no charge.

Recognized globally each springtime, Día de los Niños spotlights the vital role children play in our communities, while Día de los Libros highlights the enriching power of books. The library's festivities aim to bring children and their families closer to diverse stories and cultures. The event will span several Yolo County Library branches, each with its unique offerings of performances and activities, as reported by the Yolo County.

The lineup of free celebrations begins on April 5 with Folklorico and Dilly Dally the Clown at South Davis Montgomery Library, and wraps up on April 27 with Cascada de Flores at the Mary L. Stephens – Davis Branch Library. Other engaging events feature the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, Ballet Folklorico del Ecuador INTI-TULPA, Ukelele Storytime, and a live magician. No reservations are necessary to join the fun. This series of events is made possible by the support of the Yolo County’s Friends of the Library groups and the Yolo County Library Foundation.
