The Metropolitan Police Department has taken a 17-year-old into custody, linked to the 7th Street shooting that left a teen in serious condition. In a report released by the MPD, it was revealed that on the night of March 29, responding officers found a teenage boy with a gunshot wound. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital by DC Fire and EMS, where he continues to fight for his life.
After a thorough investigation by authorities, 17-year-old Ka’raun Foster from Northeast, D.C., was arrested yesterday, as per a court directive, and he faces charges of Assault with Intent to Kill. Foster's arrest follows the earlier capture of a 15-year-old, who the police picked up on Monday, in connection with the same incident.
Details surrounding the motivation and the circumstances of the shooting are still being investigated, and the police have not released any further information on the case at this time. The MPD confirms that the second suspect has been charged as an adult under Title 16, which provides the legal scaffold for instances where juvenile defendants are treated within the adult judicial framework.
The case, documented under CCN: 25045593, remains open, and the MPD encourages anyone with information to come forward. The full report of the arrests can be found on the MPD's official website.
