An 18-year-old suspect, Richard Hill, has been taken into custody in connection with a violent robbery that took place in Duquesne, according to the Allegheny County Police Department. The incident, which included an attempted homicide, occurred last Friday.
Following a shots fired call, the victim reported to police that two males had forced their way into his apartment on the 1000 block of Crawford Avenue, as per a statement on the Allegheny County Police Department's Facebook page. The victim was allegedly beaten and pistol-whipped by the intruders who demanded cash. Running down a stairwell to escape, the victim heard at least one gunshot behind him.
The Allegheny County Police Department's General Investigations Unit, collaborating with Duquesne Police, treated the victim for multiple injuries at the scene and proceeded with their investigation. Through witness interviews and gathering additional evidence, authorities identified Hill as one of the assailants responsible for the attack.
Yesterday, detectives observed Hill getting into a vehicle with another male in Duquesne. When the police approached, the statement made by the WTAE reported that the car had taken off abruptly. The vehicle was stopped a short distance away, fleeing Hill and the other individual. Both suspects were taken into custody shortly after.
The other juvenile individual was released after a consultation with the district attorney's office. Hill, meanwhile, faces multiple charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, and possession of a firearm by a person not legally allowed to possess one. He is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail pending a preliminary arraignment.
