A helicopter crash occurred yesterday morning at the McKnight Family Sports Complex in Rockledge, Florida, leaving two people hospitalized with injuries. According to ClickOrlando, the incident transpired around 10:20 a.m., when a private helicopter experienced a possible engine failure and crash-landed in the baseball field at 1089 Cogswell Street.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly pulled a man and a woman from the wreckage, both of whom were subsequently airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center, as confirmed by Cpl. Alice DiBiase Deakins of the Rockledge Police Department. While their conditions were not clear at the time of reporting, a relative told WESH that the victims are expected to be okay. The helicopter, identified as a Hiller H-23D, originated from Merritt Island Airport, though its intended destination remains unknown.
The crash site remained secured for federal investigation as agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, were called to determine the cause of the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is set to lead the probe.
