An 80-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday evening after an incident involving a tractor at his residence in Zeeland Township. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office told the station that the senior was doing yardwork using the vehicle when it unexpectedly flipped over, trapping him beneath, as WZZM 13 reports.
First responders, including Zeeland Charter Township Fire crews and AMR Paramedics, managed to stabilize the man at the scene around 5:15 p.m. before transportation to the hospital was facilitated by Aeromed, dispatch occurred on the 1800 block of 76th Street where the rural calm was split by the wail of sirens and the thudding of helicopter blades as they tended to the emergency, WOODTV added to the account.
During the rescue and subsequent investigation, 76th Avenue was closed to traffic, causing interruptions which were noted by authorities and reported by local media agencies. The name of the injured man was not immediately released to the public; neither was the extent of his injuries detailed in the initial reports following the accident, as asserted by WHTC. The man’s condition has not been shared, but he was taken to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids after the accident.
