Travelers in the Acadiana region can now breathe a sigh of relief as the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has reopened all routes previously closed due to severe weather conditions. Notable among these are U.S. 90 at La. 92 in both directions and La. 339 (Verot School Road) from Ambassador Caffery to La. 92, as stated in a recent update by the DOTD.
Drivers should be aware of high water signs on La. 182 from La. 96 to Duchamp Road and are advised to drive with caution in that area. St. Martin Parish roads, including La. 347 from La. 686 to La. 328 and La. 182 from La. 92-1 to Duchamp Road, have been reopened for passage. These changes follow closures due to recent inclement weather.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has issued safety guidelines for driving during adverse weather conditions. Motorists are advised to avoid driving unless necessary, stay focused while driving, and not attempt to drive through standing water. DOTD emphasizes the slogan, "Turn around, don't drown." Other precautions include being alert to wind gusts and avoiding areas with debris or downed utility lines.
