Saturday night in Lenawee County, a barn fire at Prime Quarters, home to the Adrian College equestrian facility, resulted in the complete destruction of the barn. According to a statement by the Adrian College Athletic Director Craig Rainey obtained by WNEM, "The Adrian College community is devasted by the loss of Prime Quarter," while expressing relief that the Prime Family, the Adrian College equestrian team, and the barn’s livestock are all unharmed. The fire began around 8:00 p.m. and raged for approximately two and a half hours.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and stopped it from spreading to a nearby home, while rescuing all the horses and pigs in the barn, according to WNEM. The 80 x 200 barn was destroyed and is considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Madison Township Fire Chief confirmed the timeline of the incident, stating that the firefighting efforts concluded around 10:30 p.m., further noted by a WTOL report.
