Attention Andrew County motorists, prepare for a slight detour in your daily commute. Today, four key ramps at the intersection of Interstate 29, I-229, and U.S. Route 71 in Andrew County will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a much-needed resurfacing project. According to MoDOT, the closures will affect those attempting to transition between the busy routes.
The resurfacing work, being undertaken by Herzog Contracting Corp in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will specifically close these ramps: Southbound I-29 to I-229 (Exit 56B), S. Route 59 to southbound I-29, Southbound I-29 to northbound Route 59 (Exit 56A), and Northbound I-229 to southbound I-29 (Exit 14A). Travelers will need to find alternative pathways during the closures. This may cause some minor frustration, but smoother roads are ahead—pun intended.
During the ramp closures, MoDOT encourages drivers to plan accordingly, giving themselves extra travel time to navigate the detours. MoDOT has reminded the public that all work is dependent on the whims of Mother Nature and that schedules are subject to change if weather conditions do not cooperate. Their goal is to minimize the inconvenience to drivers and to complete the project as efficiently and safely as possible.
Motorists are urged to remain vigilant in construction zones, keeping an eye out for work crews and obeying traffic signs. "MoDOT asks drivers to work with us by always buckling up, keeping your phone down, slowing down and moving over in work zones," the Missouri Department of Transportation said, expressing a commitment to safety for both the public and their road workers.
