Amid ongoing economic uncertainties and the shifting sands of the global market, the youth of Arizona have stepped forward, showcasing not only their resilience but also their depth of knowledge in economics and personal finance. Nearly 2,000 students from junior high and high schools participated in the State Finals of the Economics Challenge and Personal Finance Challenge in Mesa, as reported by ABC15.
Complementing this hands-on experience, April brings forth National Financial Literacy Month, featuring a collection of events and resources crafted by the Council for Economic Education (CEE) to foster financial comprehension across the board. There's a Personal Finance Bootcamp for K-12 teachers that happened virtually on April 5, providing them with an array of instructional strategies covering income, savings, and budgeting, while students have access to advocacy toolkits to promote the inclusion of personal finance within their curriculum, all these initiatives were elaborated upon in a publication made accessible by the Council for Economic Education.
CEE is not only empowering educators and students the CEE also extends its outreach to the general populace, disseminating weekly book and podcast recommendations through the Invest in Girls program's Instagram, catering to a diversity of perspectives and audiences interested in broadening their financial knowledge. Looking toward the future, the CEE is organizing its 2025 Diamond Gala on April 29 in New York, with a mission to further arm K-12 students with robust economic and personal finance tools, honoring advocates and New York educators who excel in delivering economic and financial education in classrooms.
With the collaboration of Intuit for Education, the CEE's Financial Literacy Month activities aim to nurture a society that is better informed about economics and personal finance, a vision shared by educators, students, and financially savvy individuals alike. The Council for Economic Education invites everyone to partake in the celebrations throughout the month, offering myriad ways to engage and maximize the potential of this moment dedicated to financial literacy. For more detailed information on these initiatives as well as registration for events, individuals can visit the CEE's official website.
