Arlington Animal Services is turning National Pet Day into an opportunity for community members to find a furry friend, offering significantly slashed adoption fees for select animals. As reported on their website, wannabe pet owners can bring home a dog or cat designated as a Very Important Pet (VIP) for a mere $10 on April 11. VIP status can be due to various aspects, including the pet's length of stay at the shelter, space availability, seniority for pets over 8 years old, or specific care needs.
The standard adoption fee structure lists cats at $90 and dogs at $100, but this special offer serves as a gesture to encourage residents to consider adoption. Not only does the reduced fee make adoption more accessible, but it also includes essential health care: vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, a city license for residents of Arlington, and applicable testing for diseases like heartworm or FIV/FELV. This was confirmed via the Arlington Government's official announcement.
Arlington Animal Services operates from its location at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd. Its doors are open most of the week, including Saturdays, with an altered schedule on the second Tuesday of each month. They encourage those interested in adoption to keep an eye on their Facebook page, where they promise to announce any special promotions. According to the information provided on their website, adoptable pets can be viewed online, a boon for prospective pet parents looking to browse at their leisure.
