The renovation efforts at Arlington Highlands have reached a significant milestone with the completion of their first phase, a project that's part of a broader $30 million investment by Fairbourne Properties and AEW Capital Management. The open-air shopping hub in Arlington spans 714,935 square feet and has officially unveiled its array of new amenities as announced by the City of Arlington.

Bought in 2011 from Retail Connection and the Dallas-based Mathis family, who developed it between 2007 and 2009, Arlington Highlands stands out with over 30 dining choices and over a hundred retail and specialty outlets. Increasing the center's commercial appeal, the leasing company SHOP Companies, contracted by the partners, have recently introduced brands like Kendra Scott and Pottery Barn Outlet to the landscape, the former opening their doors in March 2025.

Emphasizing walkability, beauty, and community, Phase 1 of the development has brought to life a new 48,000-square-foot public park, which features heavily padded turf, 17 preserved mature trees, and pathways that intricately connect various retail quadrants. Over 35,000 square feet of Tokistar lighting have been installed to brighten the center, and a 1,100-foot bench wall seating arrangement provides respite for shoppers. Events like the "MOM-umental at Arlington Highlands," scheduled for May 10, add a dynamic cultural flair to the venue.

With Phase 2 anticipated to wrap up by year-end, shoppers can expect to see wayfinding signage improvements and the addition of more family-friendly amenities, according to David Harvey, president and managing director of Fairbourne Properties.
