A grim situation unfolded earlier this week in Arlington as local police launched an investigation into the death of a 63-year-old woman following a late-night incident involving gunfire. As reported by the Arlington Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on Whisper Meadow Lane shortly before midnight on Monday in response to calls about shots being fired.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the woman unresponsive in the complex's breezeway, later pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses on-site included a 37-year-old man, who claimed to have heard cries for help before taking up arms to confront and eventually fire a warning shot at the assailant, scaring him away. The police update revealed that the suspect left the scene on foot after the shot was fired into the ground.
Further investigation linked 23-year-old Jacob Arriaga Guerrero to the crime after a tampering alert from his ankle monitor surfaced from the Tarrant County Community Supervision and Corrections Department. According to the Arlington Police Department's statement, data from Tarrant County also placed Guerrero at the scene at the exact time of the attack. Guerrero has been taken into custody as a suspect in this ongoing case.
