The weather in Atlanta, Georgia, is looking to bring some warmth and sunshine, but not without its share of unsettled conditions in the coming days. According to the National Weather Service, residents and visitors can expect a partly sunny day today with highs reaching up to 87 degrees, accompanied by south winds moving at 5 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph.
Tonight, the sky will stay partly cloudy, holding a low around 67 degrees, with those southern breezes calming down to around 5 mph. Come tomorrow, mostly sunny skies prevail as temperatures are anticipated to climb near an even warmer 88 degrees, and those south winds will again pick up, ranging from 5 to 15 mph, with possible gusts erupting as high as 25 mph.
However, the latter part of the weekend brings in a change with a pattern of inclement weather. The National Weather Service forecasts "a chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm." Some storms on Sunday could bear heavy rainfall, with an imposing high near 79 degrees. Gusts could potentially reach up to 30 mph, with the chance of precipitation rocketing to 90%.
Substantial showers and thunderstorms are also in the queue before dawn on Monday, maintaining an 80% chance of precipitation, trailed by a less turbulent forecast with "a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8am" and a high nearing a cooler 66. But the skies are expected to clear by Monday night, leading to a sharper drop in temperature with lows around 45.
Looking ahead into next week, Atlantans can anticipate a sunny respite on Tuesday with a high near 62, dropping to a clear and cool night around 40 degrees. The sunshine remains steady into the midweek, with Wednesday warming up to a comfortable 68 degrees and nightfall bringing minimal cloud cover and a low of 46. The warming trend continues with Thursday projected to be sunny with a high reaching 71 degrees.
