An Auburndale woman, currently on probation, has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in which she allegedly ran over another woman with her car. The violence erupted on a seemingly ordinary street, shattering the day with its sudden brutality, as detailed by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office press release.
On Thursday, Christdon Reese, 41, was seen driving her white Volkswagen Jetta when she executed an aggressive U-turn, purportedly targeting the victim who was in the company of Reese's estranged husband. As reported by the Sheriff's Office, the surveillance footage from a nearby Circle K store corroborated this sequence of events. Reese now faces charges of Attempted First Degree murder, Trespassing, and Violation of Probation.
The victim's attempt to escape Reese's vehicular assault was in vain, as she was struck down, consequently suffering two spinal fractures. Thankfully, her injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening, and she is expected to make a recovery. Polk County Fire Rescue responded quickly, transporting the injured woman to a local hospital for treatment.
After carrying out the attack, which occurred off of Old Dixie Hwy near a Family Dollar store parking lot, Reese fled the scene. However, the resident of the property where the incident took place informed deputies that Reese was not permitted to be there. This information led to an additional trespassing charge against her, signifying how justice can catch up in multifaceted ways.
By the following day, detectives had located and arrested Reese, ensuring her prompt delivery to Polk County Jail where, she will await the consequences that the courts deem fit for her actions.
