The Austin Police Department is currently seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect linked to an aggravated assault that occurred on the morning of April 8. According to the official report, the altercation took place outside a business at 5312 Airport Blvd at approximately 6:30 a.m., where witnesses claimed that a heated argument between two males had escalated rapidly.
During the dispute, a black male suspect allegedly produced a firearm, pointed it at the other individual involved. According to witnesses, in the parking lot, the startled victim managed to escape the scene unharmed. Standing at about 6 feet 2 inches tall and tipping the scales somewhere between 230-250 lbs, the suspect was last seen donning a blue hoodie, possibly layered over a black hooded garment, and was also wearing jeans.
Given the time and location of the incident, detectives believe multiple people may have witnessed the confrontation. Nevertheless, the Austin Police Department has yet to locate or identify any witnesses who were present during the time the assault unfolded. Detectives are now, thus, turning to the community for assistance in gathering additional photos, videos, or pertinent evidence that may aid the investigation.
Community members who might have visual evidence of the confrontation are encouraged to submit it. The blue hoodie, often seen in crowds, which the suspect was last known to be wearing, might be a useful detail for identifying him. Further details and a QR code for submissions can be found in the Austin Police Department's call for public assistance. For those wanting to report information anonymously, they can contact the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program through the Austin Police Department's website or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest in this case.
