In a grave turn for a Baltimore community, Paris Harris, a 20-year-old man, was sentenced to life plus 15 years for the murder of Desmond Gardner, a local father who was tragically shot while on his way to visit his daughter during a lunch break, as reported by FOX Baltimore. Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown announced the stringent sentence Wednesday, highlighting the egregious nature of Harris's involvement in the 2023 Cherry Hill neighborhood shooting.
Harris's conviction, following a three-day trial that concluded on July 12, 2024, was based on evidence including a video that captured the crime and a handgun found in a stolen vehicle he occupied, which was forensically linked to the murder scene, according to details from WBALTV. The prosecution articulated during the trial that Harris and two others approached Gardner and shot him multiple times in the head and back, which shows a "callous disregard for the value of human life," a sentiment echoed by the Attorney General's Office.
Andrew Curry, 24, has also been charged in connection with Gardner’s killing. The case continues to unfold with his upcoming trial set for June 13.
