According to WZZM 13, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. today during the final phase of sewer repair work, resulting in a gaping void approximately 20 feet by 25 feet.
The unforeseen collapse damaged a car, although no injuries have been reported. The stretch of Riverside Drive to be affected is between Columbia Avenue and Territorial Road E, as local authorities rush to implement repairs. A statement detailed by WWMT reported that residents and emergency vehicles will now have to navigate around the impacted area using Territorial Road E.
City crews are working diligently to establish a sewer bypass and have brought in an excavator to assist with the repair process.
