A man from Berkley, Michigan, is under fire as multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct pile up against him. Darren Bradford, 24, stands accused of leveraging vape products to coerce a teenager into sex, among other allegations involving minors. As reported by CBS News Detroit, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office has recently charged Bradford with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Previously, Bradford had been charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The series of charges, all filed within a week, point to a concerning pattern. McDonald, quoted in a ClickOnDetroit article, described Bradford as a "serial predator who exploited teenagers too young to consent." Her office is also proceeding with a case in Wayne County, where Bradford is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in his car.
Further investigations by Berkley police uncovered that the alleged misconduct was not an isolated incident. Upon receiving a tip regarding minors frequenting Bradford's apartment, authorities discovered that he was regularly providing alcohol and illegal substances to high school students. According to FOX 2 Detroit, the police operation revealed minors being taken for meals and supplied with intoxicants. They recorded at least one instance where Bradford engaged in sexual acts with a minor.
McDonald's statement highlights the societal significance of the young victims' actions, saying, "I applaud the victims for coming forward. It's never easy to do, but thanks to them this defendant won't get a chance to abuse the next potential victim," CBS News Detroit reported.
