With Blount County citizens and travelers preparing for the Rock the Country Festival at Maple Lane Farms in Greenback, set to commence this weekend, the Blount County Sheriff's Office has issued an advisory about the expected increase in traffic volumes. According to the social media post from the Sheriff's Office, major roads surrounding the venue, including Henry Lane and U.S. Highway 411 South, will face heavy traffic as festival attendees start to pour in on Thursday, continuing throughout the weekend.
Festival-goers are keen to set up camp and, having arrived today, they will continue to do so throughout the next few days. "Deputies will be staged at all of the major intersections around Maple Lane Farms to ensure as smooth a traffic flow as possible," the post says, with an emphasis for those on the road to "PLEASE EXERCISE PATIENCE AND EXPECT DELAYS!" Maps detailing the traffic plan are available, showcasing that traffic will flow in both directions on the routes leading into and out of the event. However, with Kid Rock poised to take the stage on Saturday night, heavier than usual traffic is anticipated.
The Sheriff's Office is gearing up to handle the large influx of an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 visitors expected daily, with the numbers swelling further for the Saturday night performance. Inside the venue, deputies will also be on hand, tasked with setting up a secure environment for the revelers. An austere zero-tolerance policy will greet those who forgo abiding by the law or common sense, aiming to ensure safety and good citizenship among the participants.
