Yesterday afternoon in Mattapan Square, the Boston Police Department's drug investigation took a serious turn when a 24-year-old local was arrested on multiple charges, including firearms and drug violations. According to a report from the Boston Police Department, Jaire Bagby was apprehended after officers, who were conducting surveillance in the area as part of an ongoing operation, allegedly witnessed him involved in what they believed to be a drug transaction.
The observation took place around 4:50 PM, when officers noticed Bagby standing in front of 1625 Blue Hill Avenue. During their surveillance, they observed an exchange between him and another male, who then entered a convenience store and later drove off in a Jeep, prompting officers to make a traffic stop at 28 Oakcrest Street. It was determined that the man had bought marijuana from Bagby, which led officers to seek additional backup to detain Bagby for further questioning. After detaining Bagby without incident, a search revealed he possessed a Ruger Police Service Six .357 Magnum with its serial number illegally removed, and six rounds of ammunition were found loaded in the weapon. Additionally, officers found three plastic bags containing marijuana on his person.
Bagby is facing a multitude of charges, as listed by the Boston Police Department, including the distribution and possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance, along with several firearms-related offenses. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
