On Friday evening, the Boston Police Department's Youth Violence Strike Force executed a traffic stop in Dorchester, which led to the arrest of two individuals. The stop, which occurred around 6:22 PM, near Columbia Road and Massachusetts Avenue, was initiated after officers noticed a vehicle with mismatched registration plates. The subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of a firearm and the arrest of the vehicle's occupants on various charges.

Upon noticing the vehicle making abrupt turns in an apparent attempt to evade police, the officers engaged their emergency lights and sirens, and successfully stopped the car on Glendale Street. After briefly exiting the vehicle, the driver, ordered back in by officers was found to be operating with a suspended license. The passenger, identified as Keysha Ortiz, a 36-year-old Dorchester resident, had an active warrant for her arrest, a report by Boston Police stated.

The search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Canik TP9 SF Lite, outfitted with a high-capacity magazine and fifteen rounds. Ortiz, the passenger, faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of ammunition. She also faces charges for a firearm violation with three prior violent/drug crimes, driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and attaching plates. She is set to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

Additionally, the driver, Yuberkys Recci, 28, also from Dorchester, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from New Bedford District Court.
