The Gwinnett County Police Department has recently brought a suspect into custody after a series of armed robberies tied to a stolen vehicle. After a reckless pursuit that ended with a crash, officers, supported by the Aviation Unit, arrested 19-year-old Trevon Hogges from Buford. Hogges is now facing multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, as reported by Gwinnett County's official news release.

During the ill-fated escape attempt on February 26, which initially began when officers attempted to pull over the stolen vehicle Hogges was driving, the suspect led the police on a high-speed chase. His time on the run came to an abrupt end when he crashed the vehicle and was caught following a foot pursuit, monitored from above by the aviation unit. Hogges's link to two earlier robberies in the year became clear after detectives used a variety of investigative methods.

The first armed robbery incident occurred on January 14 at a check-cashing business in unincorporated Duluth, where a masked assailant discharged a gunshot through the front door. The armed suspect, who was described as a black male dressed in a white jacket and face mask, then entered the business, making demands to open the safe, as detailed by Gwinnett County's news report. After being informed by the victim that she was unable to open the safe, the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Within days of this robbery, a suspect matching the description from the first incident attempted another heist at a check-cashing establishment in Smyrna on January 16. Acting in concert, detectives from the Gwinnett and Smyrna Police Departments believe the same individual is responsible for both crimes. Seeking help to further the case, the Gwinnett County Police have invited the public to contact them with any information, or alternatively to provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers, which may result in a cash reward leading to an arrest and indictment related to these events.
