Residents of Cabarrus County can look forward to smoother drives and safer streets as the N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $3.2 million contract to NJR Group, Inc. for extensive road improvements. According to an announcement made by the City of Kannapolis, this funding will cover nearly seven miles of roadway renovations, set to commence soon.
The contract includes a comprehensive suite of updates such as milling, resurfacing, and installing concrete curb ramps. The plans also call for shoulder reconstruction, full depth reclamation, asphalt surface treatment, and fresh pavement markings. Some noticeable changes will be along key roads like John White Road, Flowes Store Road, and Kannapolis Parkway. These improvements reflect an ongoing commitment to maintain and enhance the county’s infrastructure.
A list of specific roads targeted for updates encompass a variety of locations within the county. Drivers can expect construction activity on segments such as John White Road between Flowes Store and Carl Bost roads, and E. First Street from Little Texas Road to U.S. 29. It's a strategic selection that aims to address areas that require critical road surface enhancements, facilitating smoother traffic flow and elevated safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.
By investing in its roadways, Cabarrus County not only bolsters its infrastructure’s longevity but also ameliorates the daily experiences of its commuters. While the timelines for completion have yet to be detailed, the county and NJR Group, Inc., will soon provide updated schedules and roadway closure information to the public.
