A Canton man perished in a motorcycle collision yesterday afternoon when his vehicle struck an SUV. Periklis Barry Giamourides, identified as 56, was pronounced dead after the incident, which took place on 25th St NW. According to a report by Cleveland19, Giamourides was traveling eastbound at what is described as a high speed when the crash occurred.

Details gathered from WKYC state that the accident happened near the 900 block of 25th Street NW around 12:27 p.m. Giamourides, riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, encountered a 2018 Nissan Rogue making a left turn into a private drive. The SUV was attempting to turn southbound when the collision took place.

Investigators believe that the speed at which Giamourides was traveling may have been a contributing factor to the collision's severity. The Nissan Rogue was reportedly turning south to pull into a driveway when Giamourides collided with the vehicle's driver's side, trying to stop, as mentioned by FOX8. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the motorcyclist to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Canton Police Department is currently investigating the crash. Witness statements and physical evidence from the scene are being analyzed in order to piece together the sequence of events that led to the incident. While the motorcycle attempted to come to a stop before impact, the speed at which it was traveling made it difficult for Giamourides to avoid hitting the Nissan on the driver's side, which was going east and the motorcycle also at a high rate of speed, as per a statement obtained by FOX 8. The identity of the SUV driver has not been released, and it's not currently clear if any charges will be filed in relation to the crash.
