As the city continues grappling with the aftermath of a severe storm, Carrollton's clean-up operation steadily progresses as community members adhere to the set protocol for debris placement. According to a recent update from the City of Carrollton website, Republic Services has jumped in to support CrowderGulf with storm debris collection, having amassed 6,342 tons since the clean-up efforts began on March 20.
Residents must follow the placement guidelines to facilitate efficient pick-up, such as keeping storm and bulk debris in separate piles with at least a three-foot distance between them and avoiding placing debris near mailboxes, gas meters, or sprinkler lines. The update also advised against parking vehicles in front of the debris piles, which could result in missed collection. On Thursday routes, 40% completion has been reported for brush and storm debris collections, notably lagging behind the other services.
Regarding specific progress, the City's update on Tuesday indicated that CrowderGulf completed the first pass of storm/brush debris collections for Tuesday and Wednesday routes and is currently addressing Thursday routes, with 10% completion to date. Meanwhile, Republic Services is on track with household bulk trash and recycling collections and has resumed picking up yard waste bags to assist CrowderGulf's efforts. As of the latest check-in, the cumulative amount of storm debris collected has reached 5,874 tons (26,795 cubic yards).
