The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is embarking on a community-driven journey to redefine priorities and create a cohesive transportation plan for the next decade, a plan dubbed "Your Transportation Plan," and they're inviting the citizens of Colorado to chime in directly through a series of telephone town halls scheduled to take place across the state in the coming weeks. Rooted in a commitment to inclusiveness, CDOT is pursuing extensive statewide engagement via outreach events, set to gather insights and perspectives that will undoubtedly shape the transportation landscape far into the future.
Every voice has the potential to influence the transportation policies that will echo through Colorado's valleys and over its peaks; hence, these town halls are a significant touchpoint between the citizens and the Colorado Transportation Commission members, who have the ear of the governor and answer to the Colorado Senate. Beginning next week, CDOT is setting the stage for residents to join either by phone or online to put forth their ideas and concerns, whether it's about that pothole that's turned into a neighborhood legend or a bike lane that could connect communities and give rise to healthier lifestyles.
According to CDOT, the town hall meetings will kick off on April 29th in El Paso, extending to touch almost every corner of the state by early June, with residents from Denver, Arapahoe, and Douglas counties slated to have their session once a date is pinned down. Keeping an eye on the clock, each session will maintain a tight ship, steering from 6:30 p.m. right up till 7:30 p.m., striking a balance between thorough discourse and respecting Coloradans' time.
