The Dallas community is on the brink of a celebration as the Coombs Creek Trail sees its new extensions to Moss Park and Beckley Ave. finally complete. As announced by local officials, a ribbon-cutting event and a group bike ride will mark the occasion on Friday, April 11th, starting at 3:30 PM. The district's residents will witness Council Member Chad West, Park Board Vice Chair JR Huerta, and Dallas County Commissioner Elba Garcia, among others, inaugurating the trail, which promises a seamless, nearly 4-mile stretch for cyclists and pedestrians.
The celebration, captured in a bulletin by the City of Dallas, is set to kick off at Moss Park with speeches, followed by the first ribbon cutting. In anticipation, attendees will saddle up for a family-friendly ride to initiate the eastward stretch, culminating in another ribbon cutting for the new Coombs Creek Bridge and North Beckley Ave. crossing. After cutting the second ribbon, the attendees will have the option to cycle back, head home, or continue celebrating at a local eatery, Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers.
The event details, shared for those planning to partake, anticipate remarks from elected officials at 3:40 PM. The community bike ride, about 4 miles alongside Coombs Creek Trail, stretches from the park to Beckley Avenue, interspersed with the two ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
The grand finale will be the informal gathering at Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, tying up the event in a neighborly celebration of the new trail additions.
