Chandler's "golden" seniors are being offered a chance to get active and socialize with an event coming up that ties into National Take a Walk Day. The City of Chandler’s Golden Neighbors program is organizing a free activity focused on physical health for its elder residents. Scheduled for April 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the event will be held at the Tumbleweed Recreation Center, specifically in the Cotton Room South, located at 745 E. Germann Road.
Participants can expect to learn about safe walking routes in Chandler and will be guided through the Tumbleweed Recreation Center. Directly following the tour, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in a short indoor walk, engaging in strides alongside their fellow golden neighbors. Each person who joins the event will receive a complimentary pedometer, alongside a goals chart to catalyze a consistent walking routine. Planning to provide educational materials and resources, the event is aimed at promoting health among seniors.
Those interested in participating are urged to confirm their attendance by April 15. To RSVP, residents can visit Golden Neighbors, the official webpage for the program. Alternately, potential attendees may also call 480-782-4362, or email the Neighborhood Programs team. For those looking to contribute or learn more about the Golden Neighbors program, the city has information available. Donations are welcome and can play an integral role in supporting senior services in Chandler. More details on the program can be found by visiting Golden Neighbors.
