In keeping with the town's operations schedule, Chapel Hill residents should note several service changes slated for the upcoming holiday weekend. According to an announcement on the town's official website, regular residential trash pickup will continue unaffected, but those expecting curbside recycling need to adjust their calendars. Recycling services scheduled for tomorrow, and Sunday, will be postponed, with Friday's collection moved to Saturday.

Commercial trash collection will not occur tomorrow, with staff set to collect it earlier in the week instead. Yard trimmings also will not see collection tomorrow, and no additional day has been designated to make up for this. For those planning to visit the Orange County Landfill and Waste and Recycling Centers, take note that these facilities will be closed tomorrow and on Sunday.

Transit services in Chapel Hill will undergo some modifications as well. While the town’s transit will run its Sunday routes, including A, CM, CW, D, J, N, and NS routes, the U and NU routes will not operate. The EZ Rider will maintain hours from 8:15 a.m. to 6:52 p.m. Meanwhile, Safe Rides have been announced to not operate throughout the entire weekend, with the 420 route confirmed to be operational on Friday.

Additional closures include the Chapel Hill Public Library and the Public Housing administrative office, both of which will shut their doors on Sunday. As for the town's recreational facilities, there will be partial availability. The Homestead Aquatic Center, Community Center Gymnasium, and Nate Davis, Sr. Gymnasium will be open on Friday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as well as on Sunday, from 12 to 6 p.m. However, Parks & Rec Administrative Offices, Hargraves Center, Teen Center, and Community Center Pool will remain closed on these dates. Outdoor park amenities such as parks, greenways, trails, dog parks, playgrounds, picnic shelters, will all be accessible to the public.

Residents and visitors should plan in advance to fully to accommodate these changes. Adaptability and awareness of the holiday schedule adjustments will ensure that the community's needs continue to be met without significant inconvenience.
