Heads up, drivers. The southbound lane of Rock Creek Drive is getting a bit of work done this week. Starting today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and stretching to Friday, you'll need to navigate around a lane closure near the intersection of Helena Avenue. The reason? A new power pole installation is in the works. Charlotte County's Public Works Department issued the advisory and it’s likely to add a few minutes to your commute.
For those looking to still get to quickly move through that area, there's a detour in place. Signage will guide you along the alternative route, but let's just say it's probably a good day to test that new podcast or playlist you've been putting off. The Public Works Department also wants you to remember something important: stay sharp. Construction zones are not the place to suddenly decide to multitask behind the wheel.
Moving through the bustle and hustle of a temporary traffic shift can be inconvenient, but safety is the name of the game here. That's something the Charlotte County's Public Works Department emphasized in their announcement, reminding “motorists to remain alert at all times and to exercise caution when traveling in the vicinity of construction zones.”
