Heads up, Charlotte County residents — you’ll need to hold off on any business with the Community Development Department until after today. Both the main office in Murdock and the satellite location at the Mac V. Horton West County Annex are closed for the day due to a countywide event. According to an announcement on Charlotte County’s official website, plan reviews and inspections will continue, but in-person visits and phone calls will not be available.
So, if you're planning to drop by, pick up the phone or expect a face-to-face chat with staff, you might want to reschedule. The announcement from the Charlotte County's website states that "during this time, phone lines will be unavailable, and no in-person services will be provided." This essentially means no walk-ins, calls, or quick questions at the counter.
It's not all standstill though, if you've got plan reviews or inspections lined up, rest easy knowing that these procedures will proceed as they were scheduled. County staff have been sure to arrange so that this crowd-gathering event doesn't leave citizens hanging on the more procedural aspects of development.
The downing of the shutters is a one-off with normal service slated to resume bright and early at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow.
