Marvin Bonilla, a 27-year-old Chicago resident from the 1800 block of W. 45th St., is facing grave charges after being arrested for his role in a fatal traffic collision that occurred back in 2023. Bonilla has been charged with one felony count of reckless homicide using a motor vehicle and one felony count of aggravated DUI resulting in death, as per the news detailed by the Chicago Police Department's official release.
The arrest was made by the Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force on April 1, 2025, in the 5100 block of S. Wentworth Ave. The arrest comes nearly two years after the incident on June 23, 2023, where Bonilla was reportedly driving on the 4000 block of W. 59th St., in the city's 8th District, and struck a 50-year-old man operating another vehicle, who later died from his injuries.
Mr. Bonilla's detention hearing was held on Wednesday at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. The proceedings are part of the formal process to address the charges levied against him. There have been no additional details released regarding the circumstances of the crash or any factors that may have contributed to Bonilla's alleged state of impairment at the time of the accident.
