A violent altercation in a Chino parking lot has left one man injured and another in police custody, charged with attempted murder. According to a KTLA report, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene last Saturday and discovered a victim, who remains unnamed, sustaining a gunshot wound inside a vehicle around 8:00 p.m.
After securing the victim's prompt transport to Pomona Valley Hospital, detectives combed through surveillance footage and witness accounts, eventually apprehending 38-year-old Chino resident, David Aaron Bong, identified as the alleged assailant. Found in the vicinity of the 5500 block of Philadelphia Street on Monday, Bong was arrested, and a subsequent search of his residence yielded the gun used in the altercation. Having witnessed the crime scene's aftermath, deputies pieced together the evidence that would lead them to the shooter.
Currently, Bong is detained at the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $1 million. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has scheduled his initial court appearance this Wednesday morning. While the motive remains under investigation, those with further information are strongly encouraged by authorities to come forward and assist.
