
Police in Citrus Heights arrested 28-year-old John Angel Marmol Elias after a confrontation on Lichen Drive. He was reported to have been holding a knife and threatening people, according to the Citrus Heights Police Department.
Citrus Heights Police Department said Elias was shot after he moved toward an officer while holding a knife. Before police arrived, he had reportedly tried to carjack someone at knifepoint. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later arrested for attempted carjacking. Investigators say more charges may be added.
The Citrus Heights Police Department and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office are investigating an officer-involved shooting. The officer, whose name has not been released, is on paid administrative leave. A knife was found at the scene. No officers were injured. Police are asking the public for information through the Crime Tip Line. Tips can be given anonymously, and a reward may be available through the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers hotline.
