
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has issued an urgent message to residents about ongoing flooding caused by heavy rains. He advises those in flood-prone and low-lying areas to be prepared to evacuate if needed. The flooding risk is expected to continue through on Sunday, with more heavy rainfall forecasted, despite the storms having subsided, as stated by the City of Clarksville.
On Wednesday night, Clarksville began experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to flooding risks. The National Weather Service forecasts up to 10 more inches of rain this week. Mayor Pitts advised residents in vulnerable areas to have an emergency plan and consider relocating. Local services, including the Police Department, Fire Rescue, Street Department, and utility providers, are assisting with the response. The Red Cross opened a shelter at the Crow Recreation Center, located at 211 Richview Road, for residents seeking help, as reported by the City of Clarksville.
According to the City of Clarksville's Facebook page, the response to the severe flooding involves coordination between Montgomery County, Tennessee, Fort Campbell, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, and Austin Peay State University. Mayor Pitts shared a message of unity, stating, "All of our residents will be supported at this challenging time. We are here for everyone affected." Residents are urged to stay informed and be prepared to act as the flooding continues.
