The Cochise County Attorney’s Office has filed for both preliminary and permanent injunctions against a property in Ramsey Canyon, following ongoing violations of zoning laws. The property, formerly a bed-and-breakfast, has been operating without proper permits as a venue for lodging, dining, and events such as weddings and parties, some reportedly hosting more than 100 guests, according to Cochise County.

County officials say the property owners ignored previous notices of violation and continued operations without obtaining the required special use permit. These activities have triggered numerous complaints from local residents, who cite increased noise, traffic, and environmental concerns in an area known for its ecological significance.

“Residents have a right to the quiet use and enjoyment of their homes,” said Paul Correa, Chief Civil Deputy County Attorney. He emphasized that while Cochise County supports development, it must comply with zoning regulations and consider its impact on neighbors and the environment.

Ramsey Canyon is recognized for its biodiversity and popularity among birdwatchers. Residents argue that the ongoing events are disrupting the area’s natural setting and residential character. Under county rules, any proposal to use a property for events of this scale must go through a special use permit process, which includes public input and review by the Planning and Zoning Commission. By bypassing this process, officials say the property owners not only violated the law but also avoided important safety checks, such as fire access and emergency response planning.
