Brace yourself for closures that will affect the I-25 South Connector Road and South Tejon Street starting Monday night. According to the City of Colorado Springs, the I-25 South Connector Road will be closed from South Tejon Street to South Nevada Avenue, alongside a section of South Tejon Street itself, between Brookside Street and the Interstate 25 ramps. This temporary inconvenience, beginning April 7 at 9 p.m. and expected to end on April 8 at 5 a.m., is for crews to handle pavement marking, signage installation, and traffic signal work.
The closures will come in waves. Initially, the I-25 South Connector Road and northbound South Tejon Street will shut down. Following the conclusion of work in these zones, they will reopen, and southbound South Tejon Street will close. The city has outlined several detours for the duration of the closures. For example, northbound traffic on South Tejon Street can use Brookside Street to access South Nevada Avenue and then the I-25 North Connector Road back to South Tejon Street.
The goal of the work is straightforward: to maintain and improve traffic infrastructure, ensuring the roadways stay safe and efficient for travelers. All drivers in the area during these times are encouraged to plan ahead, accounting for extra travel time or seeking alternate routes. Detour information for the anticipated closures can be accessed directly on the city's website.
If the weather or other factors delay the process, an additional closure of southbound South Tejon Street may take place beginning Tuesday, April 8, at 9 p.m. through Wednesday, April 9, at 5 a.m. The city remains committed to minimizing disruptions, but acknowledges that work like this can be an unavoidable annoyance.
