Good news for Colorado Springs residents and visitors, the Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) has announced that it's going to once again offer free rides during the summer months. The initiative, which is part of the Zero Fare Transit Grant program, will run from June 1 to August 31. This marks the fourth year MMT has provided this cost-saving service to its riders, an effort to promote public transportation and help reduce elevated ozone levels during these warmer months.

According to the City of Colorado Springs, the program has been made possible through Senate Bill 24-032. The bill enables Colorado transit agencies to receive the necessary grants to not only support the public's mobility needs but also to actively contribute to cleaner air during a period when ozone levels can dangerously rise.

We are excited to continue providing free fares for our riders again this year, said Lan Rao, Transit Division Manager for MMT, as per the City of Colorado Springs. Commuters can look forward to cost-free travel across the entire network of MMT buses and will also benefit from the included Metro Mobility paratransit services, which cater to riders with disabilities.
