In a collaborative effort marked by community solidarity and relentless search efforts, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, along with multiple agencies and local volunteers, successfully located the missing at-risk 87-year-old Chris Christensen. According to an update from the Sonoma Sheriff, Christensen, who suffers from dementia and Parkinson's disease, was found alive this morning amid dense foliage near his Graton home.
Beginning their search efforts after Christensen wandered away from his residence on Vine Hill Road yesterday afternoon, law enforcement used various resources, including drones, a helicopter, off-road motors, and K-9 teams. The extensive team comprised the California Rescue Dog Association, Sonoma County Regional Parks staff, and the Graton Fire Department, who provided crucial aid and command post facilities.
Previously, Hoodline reported the Sheriff's Office's call for public assistance in the urgent search. Christensen, described as a 5 feet 9 inches tall white male with white hair, was last seen wearing a navy blue zip-up jacket, jeans, and slippers. Notably, his means of mobility, a walker, was left behind at his home, which, along with his absence of a cell phone and medical support devices, raised the immediate need for locating him.
The Sonoma Sheriff's Office expressed "heartfelt gratitude to all the people and agencies who worked together to find Christensen."
